Naughty or Nice?

Drunken Watermelon 25
Jan

I know what you’re thinking: “What if I attached a faucet to a watermelon and filled it with spiked watermelon juice so party guests could serve themselves right from the melon?”

Garden Project 12
Jan

I recently got into gardening when my therapist suggested that I get a hobby. I love it so much that I’m now planning gardens and since the Ice Storm of 2007 caused alot of damage to the landscape and our house, I get to plan a few gardens around our house.

Here’s a pic of the front yard after the damage.

My daddy says that we’re gonna start with a “clean slate”…. on some HGTV shit. So step #1 was to clear as much of the old landscape as possible. We had the tree stomp removed and cleared all the other plants. Here are some pictures I took a few days ago.

I also ordered a small flowering tree called a Lavender Twist Redbud. My daddy saw it as being my tree. It only grows about 6-8″, the bark twists and zigzags and it blooms lavender (my fav color). It should look like this when it gets older.

Funky lil tree ain’t it!?!

But here’s a picture of it now.

I put it in the middle of the garden and it’s already 2″ high. I also put monkey grass about a foot away from the edge of the garden. LOVE LOVE LOVE monkey grass.

For the back of the garden I decided to go with poppies. I should be making more changes soon so I can be ready for Spring.

Happy Gardening!

Make Your own Tire Sandals 17

First, place either foot in the center of a large piece of paper, at least an 8 1/2 x 14. Trace around your foot, being careful at all times to keep the pencil straight up and down. Next make a mark on each side, directly down from the point on your ankles. Also make a mark at the point along the inside of your foot, directly back from your big toe.

DIY – Jewel Case Frames 15
Aug

This idea was so simple it’s genius to me. I did a bunch of these and they turned out great.

Step 1: Gather the ingredients

You’ll need:

  1. Photographs
  2. CD Jewel Cases
  3. Cardboard
  4. Scissors
  5. A Ruler
  6. Tape (Double-sided works better, Archival if you’re picky)
  7. Velcro Tape

Got everything? Fabulous! Now the fun begins!

Step 2: Make Your Own Jewel Case Wall Art

Here are the 7 simple steps you just watched:

  1. Remove the plastic insides of your jewel case. Take out the paper insert and remove the perforated edges. Use this as a template from which to cut your cardboard.
  2. Cut out cardboard pieces. (To use as backing for your photographs to prevent them from buckling.)
  3. Trim your photographs to size. Your images should be exactly 5 3/8×4 5/8 to fit snugly in the back of the jewel cases. We cropped our images down from 5 x 7 prints.
  4. Attach cardboard pieces to your cropped photographs using double-sided tape.
  5. Plop your photo into the back of your jewel case, facing out. Close the jewelcase.
  6. Affix a piece of one side of the Velcro tape to the backs of your finished case, and the other side of the tape to the spots on the wall where you’ll hang your frames.
  7. Put on some music and have fun hanging your awesome new frames!

I have alot of free time on my hands and of course idle time is the work of the devil. Although I like idle time, I’m supposed to keep busy so I started a couple of projects.

I saw this online and fell in love with it so I decided to try to recreate it.
