"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country." - Hermann Wilhelm Göring

Pill Popping Parties

(TULSA, Okla.) School police officers say prescription drugs are making their way into schools and house parties.

They say kids are calling them salad parties and prescription drugs are the pass to get in. You get whatever pills you can your hands on, drop them in a bowl, mix all the pills up. And having no idea what the pills are, you pull one out from the mix and pop it, waiting for the high.

Pill popping in schools across Green Country, including Sand Springs, is reaching a whole new level.

Parents who have lost a child to drugs say it’s a mixture you don’t want your kids to mess with.

“You can walk in the hallways and be like, ‘hey, I need some pills’.” For Sareva Greenhaw, this is heartbreaking. “As parents we tend to think, ‘well we made it through, we are ok, we turned out alright, and it’s almost a right of passage’, but we’ve got to wake up.”

Sareva’s son Cody would have turned 20 this month. At age 16 he died from an overdose of alcohol and drugs, including cocaine and the prescription drug Methadone. “I never imagined that he would take prescription pills let alone that he would die from prescription pills.”

Police say teens steal pills from their own home or from people they trust and even police have a hard time cracking down on this dangerous game.

Sand Springs school officers are working with the city courts on getting alumni who’ve abused drugs to talk with kids in their schools.

Many parents say know who your child is hanging out with and their parents.
